Title: Clinging to one's excesses .
Material: Metal, plaster-covered textile, white earthenware hands
Dimensions: 80 x 80 x 80 cm
Symbolism: Three layers of plaster-covered fabric are superimposed within a metal cage. Around this cage, two hands on either side grip the structure. Symbolically, this sculpture was conceived following the observation of a spiderweb. The three layers represent the openwork webs of the anxieties in our lives. Hands grasp to escape our downward spirals. They symbolize resilience. Note: This sculpture was exhibited in Toronto and Stratford as part of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences competition.
